Edgar Blazona brings more than 14 years of furniture design
and manufacturing experience to TrueModern. His deep knowledge
of manufacturing, understanding of materials and the modernist
aesthetic are the driving force behind TrueModern. Edgar has
held senior design and creative positions at Williams Sonoma,
Modular Dwellings, Thinc and the design firm “1994”.
Praised for its clean lines and impeccable workmanship, Edgar’s
work is showcased in galleries, hotels and private collections
worldwide including Sweden’s Ice Hotel, San Francisco’s
Limn Gallery and Bergamont Station Arts Center in Los Angeles.
Edgar and his designs have been featured in Vogue, Dwell, Paper,
Ready Made and Metropolitan Home.
In 2003 Edgar joined Thinc, a design firm specializing in consumer
products for large retailers, to launch its furniture and hard
goods division. Since Edgar’s arrival, Thinc has designed
major collections for Target, Home Depot, Sears
and Office Depot.
Prior to joining Thinc Edgar worked in furniture and hard goods
at William Sonoma Inc. where he was responsible for design,
manufacturing and quality control across several brands including
Pottery Barn Kids, Pottery Barn Teen, and Pottery Barn. It was
through his work with William Sonoma’s manufacturing matrix
that Edgar gained a deep understanding of the relationship between
design and the manufacturing process that underscores his work
today. In 1994, Edgar co-founded “1994”, a modernist
design firm praised for its clean aesthetic, craftsmanship and
accessibility.
Edgar cemented his reputation within the modernist design community
with the launch of Modular Dwellings, custom, mobile, prefabricated
dwellings that elegantly blend form and function for affordable
modernist living. In 2004 Modular Dwellings was listed among
Metropolitan Home magazine’s Top 100 Designs of the year.
